every time i want to play it comes up --CHECKING UPDATES--,is there a new version out?? :'(

Let the game check for updates. It needs to. Don't just close out of the black box. If it starts an update, don't bother it. And if you are updating and your internet stops working or the black box closes, just start up LM again and it'll pick up where it left off.
And no, there is not a new version out.
