Well, I have been wondering. People can only trade/sell by dropping items, but how do they keep away from getting scammed or, possibly, getting their items taken by someone else?

Well, I like to switch dims with the person i'm trading. But, I do not say which dim i'm going with him/her in local, I tell them in PM, so no-one else can find us and scam our items.
That or, me and my friend go to the corner of the map, we don't mention we're trading, and before anyone sees, we quickly drop and pick up each other's items.

Exactly what Bane said.
But I would most likely change dimensions, that is usually more safe, as sometimes when someone drops an item without saying anything some people instantly think that means they don't want the item and will take it right away (believe me, people really don't think at times and if you are not fast you can say goodbye to the item).

Ummmmmmm............... Just go to dimension 3, go to default world. Thats a good area for trading..
