So I also have some issues with Last Moon starting up (or it may just be me..)

 I download it, start the setup, and go through the Setup Wizard. Then after, the black box appears and downloads the entire game and so on. I may just be impatient, but it would not simply finish. It had been going for... maybe thirty minutes to an hour, but my internet was running smoothly. I tried reinstalling it real quick and it's actually still going right now...

I don't know. Is it unusual for the downloading to be going on for that long?

The initial install is VERY long, just be patient and wait for it to finish.

The first timme I got last moon it took me about 1-2 hours with 6mb/s internet speed

It does depend on ones internet speed.
Could take one person 40 minutes and someone else 3 hours.
On average it's about an hour for the black box to finish :)

By reinstalling you undid all the progress it had made and forced it to start over from the beginning again

Alright.
 Say, if you were busy and exited out of the Last Moon download and shutdown the computer, will it continue its progress when you open it back up?
Welp it downloaded but now there's an error. When the error appeared it said game.exe at the top, and it said that I should attempt to reinstall it. I suppose I downloaded it wrong..?

It'll pick up where it left off. Can't help you unless you tell what the error actually says. Try deleting version.txt
