unable to fix flashing "black box" error
« on: March 08, 2015, 06:27:16 PM »
So I installed LM, downloaded those two other files, made sure my firewall allowed LM, and ran it as administrator, but the box still appears for half a second then dissapears and nothing else happens.

I believe you have a firewall or something blocking Last Moon from opening (correct me if I am wrong). If you get an error message or get any message in the black box, be sure to post it.

I don't know how to insert an image, so here's a link to it in dropbox.

I'm afraid you'll need to provide a relevant photo for us to help you, not one from "java.exe"

Are you trying to open Last Moon or something completely different? As far as I know, Last Moon doesn't use Java at all...

I just checked the target destination for the shortcut.

C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath\java.exe

Go figure. I think it's just a matter of finding the last moon.exe file. I'll let you know if I do.

That, is in no way related to Last Moon, sorry.

If you want to find the game's files, right click on the game icon on your desktop or wherever you keep it, and click "Open File Location"

In order for anyone to help you at all, you need to post the update.log

And no, I do not think that finding the lastmoon.exe will do anything.

The problem that I'm having with any shortcut for last moon is this:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/26zqvqh4y3spdmw/Screenshot%202015-03-08%2017.34.00.png?dl=0

That shows up for all except the desktop shortcut, which somehow got redirected to java. All I get when I click on "open file location" is my java folder with three different java files. Nothing to do with LM. I'll re-install the game and try again.

Could be your anti virus randomly deleting files and fucking it up

So I turned off my antivirus and firewall, re-installed LM, but I'm still getting that "missing shortcut" error. Has anyone else ever had this problem, or something like it?

That's not it. I turned my antivirus and firewall off completely, re-installed the game, and it's still not working.

Go to the installation folder instead of trying to use shortcuts then

Where would I find the installation folder? I did a full computer search of "last moon", "last", and "moon" but I only found the shortcuts and the folder with the shortcuts.
