Missing files and not updating fully (FIXED IT)
« on: August 21, 2016, 03:12:37 AM »
SOLVED. HAD TO RUN THE BLACK BOX ABOUT TWELVE TIMES TO LET IT DOWNLOAD DIFFERENT FILES, AND ON THE TWELFTH TIME, IT DOWNLOADED THE LAST FILES. PLEASE LOCK.

I had this game back in summer of 2014 and decided I would like to get it again. So I uninstalled the version I had (and hadn't touched since then) and then downloaded the setup. I installed it successfully but upon opening the game in the file location I saw that there weren't many new files and a lot of ones said they were last modified in 2014. This confused me a lot, so I opened the game again and let the startup box run again. It downloaded a whole bunch of stuff it hadn't downloaded the first time and it said the version of game I had was 0. Anyways, every time I would do this it would start updating different files and then going to the homepage of the game when it seemed to have decided it was finished. Eventually I got frustrated by how much usage the startup box was taking with so many downloads, so I went to the file location and into the version.txt and replaced the '0' with '0.4.75'. Well, it stopped the game from updating anything else, and all was well until I went to the character maker and tried to go past the deer model. When I did, the entire game stopped and gave me a pop-up saying: "OGRE EXCEPTION:(6:FileNotFoundException): Cannot locate resource Body14.mesh in resource group Autodetect or any other group. in ResourceGroupManager::openResource at C:\kito\git\sources\dependencies\ogre_src_v1-7-4\OgreMain\src\Ogre ResourceGroupManager.cpp (line 753)". I tried switching to the other rendering system and instead of crashing with the pop-up it just freezes forever when I try to exceed the deer model. What's more, the game itself doesn't seem any different than it did in 2014. I am not certain the homepage background is supposed to be a beach with palm trees. The island with portals and such doesn't look like it has anything new, certainly not the ice one I read about in the update. I downloaded Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redist but when I ran it it said it couldn't install because their was a newer version "on the machine". I downloaded and installed the DirectX thing as well and it didn't make any difference. The game files remain to be last modified in 2014. I read in other help topics that deleting the version.txt might help, or it and the update.log as well. I tried, and when I opened the game startup the .txt files just appeared again like I had never deleted them. Tried to delete them while the startup was on and it said it was using them in the startup. Inside of the update.log it says nothing. It's blank.

I am horribly confused and upset. I would greatly appreciate some help. I only get 15 GB of speedy internet a month, and these downloads are taking a lot of data and I'd really love an option that didn't involve a ton of downloads. Thank you.

EDIT 1: As I stated above, I already tried deleting the version.txt and update.log. When I pull up the startup after deleting them, they just appear again like I never deleted them.

EDIT 2: Uninstalled the version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redist I had already and installed the one I downloaded from this site. No Difference yet.

Whenever I open the game it just starts downloading a bunch of presets with stuff like 'RakHead.tex'. I still don't have Body14.mesh on the game. The folder 'Pengu' has nothing in it. 'IcedSummit' has nothing either. Empty.

Please help!

Delete version.txt and maybe update.log to be safe.
Should restore and download all files
