Game Help / Re: Can't jump?
« on: July 23, 2014, 12:28:58 AM »
Yes! That worked. That would also explain why I could always jump well in Default. It takes significantly longer to parse scripts in the beginning, but that's just a minor inconvenience.

It's quite ironic that the game has more problems on better computers...but that's not the game's fault, I think.

Thank you so much for your help! I am jumping with joy.

Actually, where did you find a portal to Volcano? That map doesn't even exist any more so that's why you're crashing when you try to go there.

And yeah, it's strange that you would get an out of memory error on a 780.
I found it in Shadow Veldt. I suppose it would be logical for the game to crash if the map doesn't even exist :P

It still doesn't explain why I crash periodically. It seems to be happening less, only happening in Playground and maybe RainbowFalls. Also, if I spend a lot of time in the game (at least in Desert), then I get a "game.exe has stopped responding." error without warning; it just happens.

Game Help / Can't jump? (SOLVED)
« on: July 16, 2014, 08:14:14 PM »
Sorry for asking yet another question...

About 50% of the time, I can't jump as high as usual. My jumps consist of me hopping one inch off the ground at most. My double jump does not help. This is inconsistent with levels; I can sometimes jump high in Portal Island, for example, but I sometimes cannot. Usually, going from level to level does not fix it, but when it does, I usually don't have the problem again until I quit.

What should I do?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe this belongs in the Game Help section. ^^'

The error message indicates that your video card is simply out of memory.
Which rendering system do you normally use when playing the game? I would recommend using Direct if you don't already. It would help the game run a bit faster as opposed to using OpenGL. It seems as though OpenGL runs LM with a larger polygon count and that may be too much for your video card.

Another thing you could do, if you haven't done so already, would be to turn off the grass setting and anything else that may be using too much memory {Press Esc. and the options should be located in "Settings"}. Basically, reducing the amount of entities will be a better way of saving yourself from that pesky error.

You could use both these methods and more until you are able to get a new graphics card with more memory.
This'll be my first time ever helping anyone with Last Moon, so I apologize in advance if it wasn't anything you were looking for. Hope this helps. If not, perhaps someone else has a much better solution to your problem. Good luck!

I don't understand how my graphics card can be out of memory. My card is the Nvidia GeForce GTX 780, which is one of the fastest and most optimized cards for gaming. I already tried running the game in OpenGL and Direct3D9 as well. Nevertheless, I tried running the game with lower resolution, lower quality, no grass, and etc. It still crashes instantly upon touching the Volcano portal in both OpenGL and Direct3D9, so I can conclude that my graphics card did not run out of memory.

I thought the problem must be in "OgreGL", whatever that is. However, I did a quick search and found that it's used in a game I play called Torchlight II, which I have never had problems playing despite playing it with high quality settings. So, it may be Last Moon.

Thank you for your help, though, and thank you for moving this to the right board (or at least suggesting that somebody should...).

Game Help / Frequent crashing (SOLVED)
« on: July 16, 2014, 07:55:34 AM »
I keep getting a fatal error, especially in The Playground but sometimes in other places. This usually occurs after loading a new map but once occurred after I used Zoom (which resulted in red vertical stripes in the screen as well). The error message reads:
Quote from: An exception has occurred!
OGRE EXCEPTION(7:InternalErrorException): Vertex Buffer: Out of memory in GLHardwareVertexBuffer::lock at C:\kito\git\sources\dependencies\ogre_src_v1-7-4\RenderSystems\GL\src\OgreGLHardwareVertexBuffer.cpp (line 126)

What does this mean? I installed this game on D:\, not C:\, if that makes a difference.

EDIT: It happens as soon as I touch a portal to go to Volcano as well.

EDITV2: Moved to game help -Zaro

SOLUTION: I switched to OpenGL and changed "RTT Preferred Mode" to "PBuffer", though "Copy" works too. I just have to periodically reset the game when polygons begin to stop matching up, which is just a minor inconvenience. It still crashes in Playground, so I simply won't go there.
