A way to play LM on mac?
« on: May 18, 2016, 04:48:34 AM »
Hello! So I've had a windows laptop for most of my life and I just recently switched over to Mac, so I no longer have a windows laptop. LastMoon is one of my favorite IT servers and I haven't been able to get WineBottler to run it because of DirectX and something else I think.

I like LastMoon way better then FH and I think it's stupid I can't play it on my Mac. I was wondering if there was a way I could play LM on my Mac that I don't know of? Or will there ever be a version of LM for mac? I saw on the old LM website, that there will never be a version for Mac but I keep trying to find a way to play anyway. :/

If anyone knows of a way, or app- (other then switching my Mac to Windows) to play LM I would be very grateful if you could tell me, thanks!

Wine or some other Windows emulator is the only way. simply too much work for mac since it might require rewriting code

was gonna make a tutorial for it soon actually

I've been able to make Wine work, and wine comes with a thing called "WineBottler" which basically "bottles" all the stuff into a single app so you don't have to go through Wine to work a .exe and can just use Apple's default system or w/e
It's probably not gonna be optimised at all so don't be surprised if it saps battery (if you're on a laptop) and/or produces tons of lag/other errors since it's not meant to be run on a Mac.
Anywho I've given it a shot before but when I have time during the summer I'll try again and see if I can totally bottle up LM so it works for Mac :P Otherwise I'll make a tutorial as well if Ven doesn't beat me to it lel

Update: I got it to somewhat work.. It loads up but everytime I log in it crashes.. I am using Direct3D9 rendering subsystem because OpenGL won't open LM at all. If you have a email or Skype I can send a photo of what it says when it crashes, that may be a bit more helpful.. (I have no idea how to send files off of my laptop through pm on here.) ;3;

Ok so I created a new account because I have lost the info on my old one. My username is PastelSmxke. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the crashing but if you could figure it out that would be great. :3 Like I said it's only when I try to play the game. The start menu seems fine, but I just tried the tutorial and it crashed with the same message.

oh the tutorial is broken. So I wouldn't suggest clicking on it; it's why you're crashing.

Just use multiplayer

Ok, I tried clicking multiplayer (again bcuz I won't stop trying to get it to work lmao, and now it's just connecting. Usually when I click multiplayer and then sign into my account this happens- I mean, it's not crashing but the game won't connect so I'm still stuck ;n;
