If it has already run through all of its updates, the black box should close and then the computer will sit for a while THEN the new window should pop up. But if that 2nd window doesn't come up in the next 5-10 minutes, well, then something's wrong. [Granted it should not take as long as 5 minutes]

Well the situation your described can happen for 2 reasons. Either your internet connection is too unstable for the updater to see if there are any updates available, Or your anti-virus is preventing your updater from reaching the server.

You can see which is happening, by going into your LM folder and opening up the update.txt file, and copy/paste its contents

As mentioned above, the updater may be being blocked by your anti virus or your internet is unstable. Make sure you check your anti-virus and add an exception for the auto updater on LM.

Or..try re-installing the game and running the game again to see if the updater will close and open the rendering system selector.

my internet has 100,0 MBit/s and i re installed it 2 times...
many users also had problems with the compability, so i tried it to but
nothing happens... :'(

In the update log stands ( try my best to translate..google XD), that
its unable to connect, because the ..target computer.. refuse the connection
