Art / Help on Shading/Background?

Ok, I finally found out my style of drawing, and stopped trying to do things that I'm not ready for yet. The only two problems for me are shading and backgrounds... I draw on a tablet, and was wondering an easy way to get a program either on the computer or on my ipad, preferably on my it. If there's any shading or background tips otherwise, be glad to have them! Can't exactly link the picture of my drawing until I figure out how from my ipad... ;-; I got the details, blind eyes, mane, markings, chest, fur, tail, back, and paws right, pretty much everything. I draw sort of chibi-like, big head, small body. Anyways, thank you in advance!

Was thinking mane markings...? May sound stupid, but like, highlights? That we could color, of course. And maybe we could pick the texture of our fur which would affect the markings?

Ok, my markings suggestion is stripes on the back going down into the very outside of underbelly? Starting from the back, like in the picture that says 'last moon' on it at the top? Always wanted that.

Sorry went a little off-topic at the top, just always wanted that.
